Algebra 2 learning targets 

1st semester learning targets 

Functions & Transformations 1: Transform a function when represented as a graph, equation, or table.

FT 2: Identify key features of a function, and sketch a graph given key features.

Absolute Value & Quadratics 1: Describe, graph, and write equations for transformed absolute value functions.

AQ2. Describe, graph, and write equations for transformed quadratic functions. 

AQ3. Write the equation of a parabola given a focus and directrix, and use the information to graph it.

AQ4. Calculate and interpret average rate of change of a function.

Solving Quadratics 1: Solve quadratics by using square roots.

SQ2: Perform operations with complex numbers.

SQ3: Solve quadratics by factoring.

SQ4: Solve quadratics by completing the square.

SQ5: Solve quadratics by using the quadratic formula.

Systems 1: Solve a system graphically or numerically.

Systems 2: Solve a system of linear and quadratic functions algebraically, and describe the number of solutions in a given context.

Polynomial 1: I can use factors and apply the rules for end behavior and transformations to graph polynomials.

Polynomial 2: I can use long division, synthetic division, and factoring to find factors of polynomials.

Polynomial 3: I can graph polynomials in standard form.

R1-Radicals 1: I can add, subtract, multiply, divide and simplify radical expressions. 

R2- Radicals 2: I can simplify expressions involving rational exponents. 

R3- Radical 3: I can solve radical equations.

Rt1 -Rational 1: I can simplify rational expressions. 

Rt2 - Rationals 2: I can solve rational equations. 

Rt3: Rationals 3: I can graph rational functions using transformations. 

EL1 - Exponentials & Logarithms 1: I can graph exponential and logarithmic functions using transformations. 

EL2 - Exponentials & Logarithms 2: I can convert from exponential form to logarithmic form of an equation. 

EL3 - Exponentials & Logarithms 3: I can solve exponential and logarithmic equations. 

P1 - Piecewise Functions: I can graph piecewise functions and important information such as domain and range. 

C1 - Composition of functions: I can perform composition of functions and decompose functions. 

S1 - Sequences and Series 1: I can identify arithmetic and geometric sequences given a table, graph or equation. 

S2 - Sequences and Series 2: Given a list, table, graph, or formula, I can write, solve, and convert between recursive and explicit formulas for arithmetic and geometric sequences. 

S3 - Sequences and Series 3: Model real-world scenarios with sequences. 

S4 - Sequences and Series 4: Find the sum of a geometric series.
