SAFETY AND SECURITY


Jacksonville High School is committed to maintaining a safe and caring environment for all students, employees, parents, and visitors. The administration and staff are working together to implement proven best practices in school safety that help ensure the physical and psychological safety of our students and staff.


Jacksonville High School:

  • Has a comprehensive Emergency Response Plan and Crisis Management Guide that is updated annually.
  • Holds a monthly Safety and Security Meeting to discuss and review the safety plan and procedures that are in place and to continually make improvements.
  • Provides intruder training to staff and students.
  • Locks all outside doors to the building during school hours.
  • Has installed entry buzz-in doors to the north and south sides of the building.
  • Conducts safety assessments with the Jacksonville Fire Department and the Jacksonville Police Department.
  • Has established Rally Points and Reunification Procedures in the case of a major catastrophe.
  • Conducts regular all-hazard drills with the students and employees throughout the school year.
  • Has 5 AED’s available: 3 at JHS, 1 at the Bowl and 1 at the Field House in case of a medical emergency.
  • Had Active Shooter Training for teachers. All staff and students will receive this training throughout the school year.
  • Has created Classroom Emergency Kits for each classroom, office, and common area throughout the school.
