Accounting I

Week of April 29, 2024

We will work on chapter 17 this week.  Students will complete sections 17.3 and 17.4.  We will complete the work togethers and on your own and then do the applications for them. I will hand out a sheet that will help with the ratios from chapter 17.  Then we will work on the mastery problem for the chapter.  Once those are complete we will work on the sample test.  I also have a review problem or two that will help.  We may work on the sample test as well.

Week of April 22, 2024

We moved the test over 16 until this week.  Then we started chapter 17.  Doing the first two sections along with the work together and applications.  One shark tank episode.

Week of April 15, 2024

We will be working on chapter 16 this week.  Finishing the mastery problems, completing the sample test, and doing review work.  Chapter 16 A test will be on Friday.
There should be a note card activity as well to review for the assessment.

Week of April 8, 2024

We will continue to work on chapter 16 this week.  We will complete the last two sections of the chapter.  Closing entries and Post closing trial balance.   They will do the posting with the closing entries.  We should do the work together, some of the on your own, and the entire application for each section.  Once that is complete, we will spend the rest of week on the mastery problem.

Week of April 1, 2024

We will work this week on chapter 16.  We will do the first three parts.  Doing income statements, statement of stockholders equity, and balance sheet.
Students should complete at least the work together for each section and the application.  Section 2 will have two applications to do with it.


Week of March 18, 2024

We will finish chapter 15 this week.  Completing any mastery work not done, then finishing the practice test.  After those are finished, we will do the chapter 15 Assessment A.  Students will then play an accounting monopoly game for a day or two.

Week of March 11, 2024

We will  be working on Chapter 15 this week.  We will work on sections 2-4 this week.  When they are done we will work on the mastery static problem.  Students will also get a review problem on adjustments and another on determining income taxes.  The randomized problem step one could also be completed.

Week of March 4, 2024

We will be working on chapter 14 this week, for most of the week.  Monday we will review interest and work on the mastery problem.  Tuesday we will do review problems and probably work on the sample test.  Then we will take the actual test on Wednesday or Thursday.  Depending on how Monday and Tuesday goes.  Once we are done with Chapter 14 we will spend the rest of the week on chapter 15.  We should get at least the first section of the chapter done.  Completing the work together, on your own, and application.  If things go really well we will begin the second section of chapter 15.

Week of February 26, 2024

We should be done with the reinforcement activity but may spend part of a day or two on it.
Chapter 14 will be the main emphasis this week.  There are three sections to it.  We should complete all three sections.  Finishing the work together, on your own (on most of the parts) and the applications for each part.  Then we should work on the mastery problem.  We may spend part of this week on t-account reminders.  Test on 14 will not be until the following week.

Week of February 19, 2024

We will be working on the reinforcement activity that is after chapter 13.  It should take at least two days but probably three days.  If we get done we will either work on T-accounts, a business selection activity, or we will work on the first section of chapter 14.

Week of February 12, 2024

We will be working super bowl ads and financial impact on Monday.  Then the rest of the week will be spent on chapter 13.  We will finish the mastery problem tuesday and some note cards.  Then we will review on wednesday, complete the practice test and other review activities.  Then on Thursday we will take the chapter 13 Assessment.

Week of February 5, 2024

We will be working on Chapter 12 for the first part of the week.  Doing the practice test and then working on the actual assessment for the chapter.  Once that is complete we will begin working on chapter 13.  We should get at most of the chapter sections done this week.  Completing the work together, some on your owns, and the applications.  This chapter will take the payroll information we had last chapter and make the journal entries that we need to do the payroll.  

Week of January 29, 2024

We will work on Chapter 12 all week.  Starting with finishing any work on section 3 that we need.  Then moving onto 12-4 and employee payroll checks.  Completing the work together and the application for that section.  Once that is complete, we will begin work on the static version of the mastery problem.  We will try to get that done this week.

Week of January 22, 2024

We will have a t-account quiz on Monday.  Then after that we will begin chapter 12 and spend the rest of the week on it.  We will be discussing topics such as; gross pay, net pay, deductions, wages, overtime, salary, commission, time cards, and more.
This week we will work on time cards, finding gross pay, determining deductions, and then arriving at net pay.  Students should complete work togethers and on you owns for each section we cover and we will do the applications as well.  We should get through the first four sections of the chapter.



Week of November 13, 2023

We will begin with an assessment over chapter 7.  Then we will spend most the rest of the week on Chapter 8.  It only has two sections and is a very short chapter.  We will do both section, completing at least the work together and application for each section.  Once that is complete we will work on the mastery problem for the chapter.  Students may also spend time on a stock market project that we have started.  An assessment over chapter 8 will be during the following week.

Week of November 6, 2023

We will be working on chapter 7 this week.  Doing our first income statements and balance sheets.  Students will complete the work together and on your own for each section before working on the applications.  We will get both of the mastery problems done this week as well.  After that we will probably do the challenge problem and possibly another problem on paper.  It is possible we will get the practice test done as well.  We should spend part of a few class period working of a stock market game.

Week of October 30, 2023

We will continue working on Chapter 6 for most of this week.  First completing section four of this chapter.  Doing the work together, on your own, and the applications for that section.  Next we will complete each of the mastery problems.  Students will also complete at least one worksheet on paper.  We will have a minimum of two other review handouts for the chapter.  Then we will complete the sample test, test b, then go onto the chapter assessment for chapter 6.  Once that is complete we will either work on a stock market project or go onto chapter 7.  If we do chapter 7, it will be the first section.

Week of October 23, 2023

We will start the week working on the Reinforcement activity after chapter 5.  It will take at least two days.  Once that is finished we will begin the next chapter.  We will probably get at least the first two sections of it done.  Completing the work together, on your own, and applications for those sections.  

Week of October 16, 2023

We will do the last section of chapter 5, petty cash.  Students will do the work together and maybe the on your own.  Then we will work on applications. Starting with 5-4, then 5-Mastery static version and finally work on the challenge problem.  Once that is done we will work on Test B , before taking Test A for our chapter Assessment.  We will also watch some videos on banking.  We should be able to take our test on Friday.

Week of October 9, 2023

We be working on Chapter 5 this week and next.  We will start with a introduction to the chapter and some information on deposit slips, federal reserve, endorsements, and writing checks.  Students will work on a deposit slip and an endorsement sheet, then we will complete section 1 and the application with it.  Once that is done, we will work on reconciliation of a checking account and other fees that can accompany checking.  We will work on Debit Cards and other electronic banking.  We should get through the first three sections for sure this week.  Students will also watch some banking videos and talk about the value of money.  

Week of October 2, 2023

We continued work from chapter 4 this week and other t-account activities.  Students did a review sheet Monday and worked on the challenge problem.  We also completed the practice assessment.  We will take the chapter 4 Assessment, A test, on Wednesday.  Then on Thursday we will have a t-account quiz and catch up on any old work.

Week of September 25, 2023

We will be working on Chapter 4 this week.  Students will learn how to post from a journal to general ledger accounts.  Then we will post totals as well.  We will get through all four sections this week.  Completing the work togethers, on you own, and the applications.
We will also work on the mastery problem this week.  If we get all of this completed, we may start reviewing for a chapter test.

Week of September 18, 2023

We will finish up chapter 3 this week and take out assessment over it. Students will first finish the 3-s problem and then we will probably do one more problem from the chapter.  Then we will complete the b test and finally the A test.  We could do some t-account work as well. If we get the opportunity we will work on the first section of chapter 4.

Week of September 11, 2023

We will be working on chapter 3 this week.  First we will finish 3-3 section, and the application. Then we will work on section 4, totaling journals, proving debits and credits, and proving cash.  We will do the practice problems and the applications for that section.  Once that is done we will work on the mastery problem.  If we get everything done, including the practice test, we will test on Friday for chapter 3. Otherwise the test will be on Monday or possibly Tuesday of the following week.

Week of September 4, 2023

We will take our test over chapter 2 this week. Reviewing the b test.  Also review t-accounts and take a t-account quiz.  Then we will work the rest of the week on chapter 3.  We will introduce journalizing.  Students should complete at least the first two sections.  We will do the work together, on your own, and applications for each section.  If we get a chance we will start section 3-3.

Week of August 28, 2023

We will be working on chapter 2 this week.  We will introduce t-accounts, debits and credits, classifications, and then do transactions.  We will do all three sections of the chapter.  Students will complete the work togethers, sometimes the on you owns, and then work on the applications.  We will do 2-1, 2-2, both 2-3 applications, 2-Mastery (static and random), and probably the challenge problem.  They should complete a picture that will help them and also complete a practice t-account quiz.

Week of August 21, 2023

Continue work on Chapter 1.  We will finish up the transactions on Monday and then do problems from chapter 1 the week. Completing applications 1-4 and the mastery problem.  Then we will work on a few sample problem and review.  Should have our first chapter test on Thursday or Friday.

Institute days at the beginning of the week.
We will do introductions, set some goals, and student interest forms.
Next we will start chapter 1
Accounting equation and two math problems with it
Vocab for chapter 1
Work on Net worth statements
Begin work on transactions.  Work on Application 1-3 and an example.









Week of May 8, 2023

We will be working on chapter 17 for part of this week.  Students will complete problems similar to the assessment.  We will take our assessment on Wednesday.  Then the rest of the week we will finish up anything we need to complete before we begin reviewing for the final.  We may spend a few days working on a reinforcement activity.

Week of May 1, 2023

We will be working on Chapter 17 this week.  We have two sections to complete, doing the work together, on your own, and applications.  Once that is done, we will work on the mastery problem for the chapter.  Then we will work on the sample test.  We should have a test either Friday or early the next week.

Week of April 24, 2023

We will continue more work on Chapter 16.  We will have a notecard review activity, a paper problem similar to the assessment and problem do more review on the b Test.  Once that is done we will take the A test and then start chapter 17.  We should get the first two sections of that chapter done this week.  The applications, work together and the on your own.

Week of April 17, 2023

We will be working on Chapter 16 this week.  We will first complete section 16-4, doing at least the work together and application.  Then we will work on the mastery problem static version and probably at least part of the randomized version.  We will work on notecards that will help us review for the test.  Next we will work on the sample test and finally, probably Friday, we will work on the 16 test A assessment.

Week of April 10, 2023

We will need to review some of this chapter.  We will complete some of 16-2 applications if you are not done with those.  Then we will work on the balance sheet, section 16-3, and then closing entries, section 16-4.  If we get all of this done we will continue to the last section, 16-5, and work on a post closing trial balance.

Week of March 27, 2023

We will finish our monopoly activity and the questions with it.  Then we will work on Chapter 16 for the rest of the week.  We should complete the first three sections of the chapter.  Completing the income statement, statement of stockholders equity, and a balance sheet.  Students should complete the work together and application for each section.  We may do the on your own for each section as well.

Week of March 20, 2023

We will work on Chapter 15 for most of the week.  Students will finish both of the mastery problems and a problem on finding adjustments.  We will work on the sample assessment and take the assessment this week.  If we get done we will play a game together the rest of the week.

Week of March 13, 2023

We will work on chapter 15 this week.  Completing the adjustment sections and doing the work togethers, on your own, and applications.  We will also work on finding the right amount of taxes, using a chart given to us.  Then making an tax adjustment.  We will probably have a worksheet with the normal online applications.  Once we get all of the sections done, we may work on the mastery problems.  Test should the following week.

Week of March 6, 2023

We will first finish up chapter 14.  Take the practice test and finish any review problems that need completed.  Then we will begin chapter 15.  We should do the first section on unadjusted trial balances and a few adjustments.  Completing the work together, on your own, and application.  Then once that is done we will work on section 15-2.  Which is more adjustments.  We will complete the same work together, on your own, and application for that section.  We will continue with section three if we get the chance.

Week of February 27, 2023

We will be working on Chapter 14 this week.  Begin with finishing application 14-3, then doing a worksheet on interest.  Once that is done we will go to the mastery problem.  There will be a few problems added this week.  We should have a test on Friday.

Week of February 20, 2023

We will be working on a new chapter this week.  Students will start with a quick review, and some t-account work, and we will work on chapter 14.  We will be discussing uncollectible accounts and ways to determine the amounts.  Students will complete the work together, possibly on your own, and application for the three sections of the chapter.  We will work on notes receivable and determining due dates and interest on loans.  We will do a worksheet that helps with due dates and interest as well.

Week of February 13, 2023

We will first start with advertising from the super bowl, ads and their rankings.  We will discuss them and past ads, using the USA today Ad meter to help us.
Then we will work on the Reinforcement activity, you should be on step 5, we will finish it this week.  We will also spend time working on the list of business ideas from our CVE class.  Students will get a chance to narrow the list down to a smaller number and we will discuss why some business might succeed here over others.  Possible t-account work.

Week of February 6, 2023

We will take our assessment for chapter 13 on Monday.  Finish any work from past chapter.  Then work on the reinforcement activity.  That activity should take us most of the rest of the week.  We will also work on a t-account activity and mention a quiz in the future.  We migth start chapter 14 on Friday.

Week of January 30, 2023

We will be working on chapter 13 this week.  We will finish the last two sections and do the work together and application for each section.  Completing information on Payroll and paying the taxes a business pays.  Then we will do the mastery problem and the sample test.  We should take the assessment for chapter 13 on Thursday or Friday.

Week of January 23, 2023

We will work on finishing chapter 12.  Monday we will do the sample test.  Tuesday we will complete Test A for our assessment.  Wednesday we will work on finishing any problems not done from the chapter.  Possibly x-credit.  Thursday and Friday will be spent on Chapter 13.  We will work on the salary expense transaction and the payroll tax transaction.  Students will need to be able to determine if there is any unemployment taxes and find the amounts.  We will complete 13-1 work together, on your own, and the application.  Then we will work on 13-2, which will involve payroll taxes and unemployment.  We will work on the work together and application for 13-2.

Week of January 16, 2023

We will continue to work on chapter 12.  First we will finish section 12-3 and the application.  Then we will work on completing payroll checks, section 12-4.  Students will complete 12-4 work together and 12-4 application.  We might work on the on your own exercise.  Once we get this done, we will spend the rest of the week working on a mastery problem for the chapter.

Week of January 9, 2023

This week we will work on Chapter 12.  We will do a vocab sheet and a word search.  Discuss gross pay and different ways to earn gross pay.  Then we will work on time cards, doing a worksheet and 12-1 work together, on your own, and application.  Once that is done we will work on deductions and how to determine them.  Completing 12-2 work together, on your own, and applications (static and random).  Finally we will work on part of section 12-3.  A payroll register and an employee earnings record.  We should complete the work together and start 12-3 application.  This week we will also take t-account quizzes.

Week of December 12, 2022

We will work on Chapter 11 the first part of the week.  Discussing the general journal and going over the three sections of the chapter.  We will do the work together for each section and the application for each section.  If we can we will do a mastery problem and do some work on T-accounts as well.  Possibly a t-account quiz.  Then we will review for final exams.  We will go over the part I b test to help prepare and other review material.

Week of December 5, 2022

We will spend this week on Chapter 10.  It will be on Sales journal and Cash receipts journal.  We will do entries for both and then posting from both.  And a schedule of accounts receivable.  Students should get through all of the sections this week and we will do the work together and application for each of the sections.  Once we get those done we will work on the mastery problem for the chapter, static version first.  If we get the chance we will work on the sample test for the chapter as well.

Week of November 28, 2022

We will be working on chapter 9 more this week.  Starting with a quick review of what we did.  Probably doing a few of the on your owns.  We will then work on the 9-5 section of the chapter.  Complete the work together and the application. Then we will work on the mastery problem and possibly the 9-S problem.  We should then do the sample test.  Hopefully testing on chapter 9 on Thursday and starting the new chapter on Friday  (doing the first two sections of it).

Week of November 21, 2022

We will be working on chapter 9 this week.  We should get through the first three sections for sure.  Doing the work together and the applications for each section.  Once that is done we will work on a cash payments journal.  That is section 4.  If we get that far we will do the work together and application for that section.

Week of November 14, 2022

We will finish chapter 8 this week and begin 9 by Friday.  We will finish the second section of 8 and then go to the mastery problem.  We might do both of the mastery problems this week.  Students may also draw a picture of the accounting cycle.  Then we will do the sample assessment and finally Assessment A for the chapter.  Once it is done we will go to chapter 9.  We should get the first section of it done this week.

Week of November 7, 2022

We will first finish chapter 7.  Complete the randomized mastery problem, work on the sample test, possibly another review problem and then take our assessment.  Once that is complete we will start chapter 8.  We should do at least the first section of the chapter and complete the work together, on you own, and the application for 8-1.  If we get all of that done, we will start the next section.  This chapter covers the adjusting entries, closing entries, posting the entries, and then doing a post closing trial balance.

Week of October 31, 2022

We will complete chapter 6 and have a test over it on Wednesday.  We will finish the applications from the chapter on Monday and part of Tuesday.  Students may have another worksheet to do that would be handwritten.  And we will review on Tuesday for the Test Wednesday.  The rest of the week will be spent on Chapter 7.   It is on income statements and balance sheets.  We will do the work together for both, maybe on your own problems, then work on applications 7-1 and 7-2.  It is possible we will do the mastery problem as well or at least part of it.

Week of October 24, 2022

We will start the week working on a reinforcement activity.  It should take at least two days.  Once that is done we will work on Chapter 6.  The main part of this chapter is creating a worksheet and the adjustments that are made to certain accounts.  We should be able to go through all four parts of the chapter this week.  Starting with the trial balance columns and then going to the adjustments and finally extending the balances to the rest of the worksheet and determining net income or loss.  Once that is done we will do the adjusting entries and post them.  We should do the work together and probably the on your own with each section and then the application.  We should be done with the four section this week and ready for the mastery problem next week.

Week of October 17, 2022

We will continue to work on Chapter 5 this week and should finish it this week.  We will start with the last section, 5.4 on petty cash.  We will do the work together and the on your own and next completing the application. Once that is done we will work on the mastery problems.  While this is continuing we will do a little other work on endorsements and other banking information.  Then we will do the sample test and finally the actual test.  We will watch a few video's on money and banking as well.

Week of October 10, 2022

We will work on Chapter 5 this week.  It centers on cash.  We will work with checks, making deposits, reconciliations, and petty cash.  I will also discuss other money topics to add to the chapter.  Students should get through at least the first three sections of this chapter and the work togethers (most of the on your owns) and the applications for them.  There will be a deposit slip problem and a endorsement problem added to what the software covers.

Week of October 3, 2022

We will finish up chapter 4.  Complete any applications.  Add other review. Then complete the sample test and finally take the Chapter 4 A test.  The challenge problem will be for X-credit.

Week of September 26, 2022

We will introduce chapter 4 on Monday and then work on charts of accounts.  After that we will discuss posting information from a journal to the general ledger.  Once that is complete we will post totals from columns to their account in the general ledger and finally we will work on posting corrective entries.  We will do the work together for each section and the on your own for most of the sections. Students will do the applications 4-1, 4-2, 4-3, 4-4 static and randomized and then work on the mastery problems (static version first).
We will also do work on how to update account balances and have at least one worksheet on it.  

Week of September 19, 2022

We will finish chapter 3 and have a test over it later in the week.  Students will finish the randomized mastery problem and the source document problem then we will work on other problems from the chapter.  The challenge problem will be for extra credit.  Once that is done we will work on the B test for review before doing the A test.


Week of September 12, 2022

We will work on chapter 3 this week.  It involves using a journal and putting transactions into the journal. We will review a journal and go over a problem that discusses how to put things into a journal and how they are graded.  Then we will finish section 1 before going into the next few sections.  First each section adds more problems, we will do the work together, and possibly the on you own, for each section and then the application for each section.  We may get all the sections done this week.
That would include applications 3-1, 3-2, 3-3, 3-4.1, 3-4.2 static version and then going on from there if we have time.  We will probably do another t-account quiz late in the week.

Week of September 5, 2022

We will finish chapter 2 this week and take our assessment on it.  We will do the practice test on part of Tuesday and Wednesday and then take the A test on Thursday.  During the week we will work on review problems to help prepare for the test as well as work on T-accounts and account classifications.  We will have a T-account quiz for part of the hour on Friday.  Then we will introduce chapter 3 on Friday and probably complete the first section and work on the work together for the first section.

Week of August 29, 2022

We will take our first assessment on Monday, on Chapter 1 Test A.  Once that is complete we will work on chapter 2.  Students will learn what a T-account is and terms such as Debit and Credit.  We will then go over how to increase, and decrease accounts based on what side of the t-account should their normal balance be on.
Student will draw a diagram that will help them with balances
We will work on section 2-1, 2-2, and possibly 2-3
We will do the work together and some on your owns for each section and then the application that goes with it.
We will complete a T-Account practice quiz that will help students in the future on real quizzes.

We will spend part of this week on a review test that will help with the final.  Then we will review accounts balances and classifications.  Seniors will be taking their final this week.  Junior will do the computer part and then work on a review activity.

We will spend part of this week finishing any of the reinforcement activity that is not done.  On Monday we will have a google classroom assignment to complete.  Then we will do an activity with budgeting and spending money.  Then we will begin to review for our final.
We may spend part of the week on a new chapter.

Week of May 2, 2022

We will spend this week working on a Reinforcement Activity that is after chapter 17.  It has many step and two parts.  We will start it together and then I will help those who need it.  The activity covers the last four chapters that we have covered.  It should take most of the week.  

Week of April 25, 2022

We will finish working on chapter 17 this week and take our assessment over it.
Monday, quick review of parts of the chapter, then work on 17-4 randomized and a worksheet given to the students.  Then Tuesday we will work on part of the mastery problem that is randomized and finish up any parts and worksheets from chapter 17.  Wednesday we will review, completing the sample test and working on ratio reviews.  Thursday we will take the test (possible work on a accounting cycle picture).  Friday we will finish anything we need from the chapter and probably begin a reinforcement activity.

Week of April 18, 2022

We will work on chapter 17 this week.  The chapter is on ratios and how to use them to compared past and current financial statements.  We will do the work together, on you own, and applications for the first three sections of this chapter.  Then we will work on the mastery problem, the static version.  We will try to get the first section or two done of the mastery problem this week.  We may start the last section of the chapter is we have extra time.

Week of April 11, 2022

We will review on Monday, doing sample problems and a note card review activity.  Students will take the Chapter 16 A test on Tuesday.  X-credit for the challenge problem this chapter or for doing your own note cards for review.  Then for Thursday we will either work on a reinforcement activity, work on t-accounts, or a separate activity.


Week of April 4, 2022

We will continue working on chapter 16.  We will finish section 4 and the application and on your own problem.  Then we will complete section 5, post closing trial balance.  Once that is complete we will work on the mastery problem static version.  Students will also work on review problems that will help them memorize parts of the financial statements we need to do on an assessment.  We may have an assessment on Friday, if not it will be early next week.  

Week of March 28, 2022

We will work on chapter 16 this week.  Intro to an income statement first and then complete it.  We will do the work together and part of the on your own at least and then work on the application.  Students will also complete the statement of stockholders equity, doing the work together and the application (possibly on your own problem) and then we will get to the balance sheet this week and do the work together, some of on your own, and then the application for it.  

Week of March 14, 2022

We will work on T-accounts some this week with different activities.  Students will play monopoly and we will discuss Assets and Liabilities within the game.  Students should be done with any chapter 15 work and the assessment.  If any old work in not completed it should be done this week as well.  

Week of March 7, 2022

Continuing with chapter 15 this week.  We will start with a review of how to use the tax table and finding income.  Then we will work on the mastery problem for this chapter.  Doing the static problem first.  We will work on at least part of the randomized mastery problem as well.  We will take our assessment over the chapter on Friday and review for the assessment on Thursday, by completing the b test.  We may do some work with t-accounts as well.

Week of February 28, 2022

We will begin chapter 15 this week.  Students should get through the first three sections and we will work on the work together, some on your own, and then the applications.  We will do the t-account quiz for the back of the review sheet as well.  If we have a chance we will work on the fourth section of the chapter on Friday.

Week of February 21, 2022

We will begin with a short review of chapter 14 and then completing the b test.  Once that is done we will work on a problem on finding interest, maturity date, and maturity value. Then we will complete problems for review from the transactions of the chapter.  Next we will complete the A test for chapter 14.  Finally we will either quiz on t-accounts or have activities on t-accounts.


Week of February 14, 2022

We will spend some time discussion super bowl ads.  The money spent and the rankings of them.  Then we will continue working on chapter 14.  Be sure to be through the 3rd section of the chapter.  Next we will do the mastery problem and work on other examples of finding interest and maturity dates.  Finally we will do the review for the test and take the assessment.  That will be done on Wednesday or Thursday.  TWO SNOW days end of this week.

Week of February 7, 2022

After three snow days last week.  We will start the week working on the reinforcement activity and then we will begin working on chapter 14.  We should be able to do at least the first two section with the practice problems and the applications.  If we get all of that done we will work on the third section of chapter 14.

Week of January 31, 2022

We will spend the bulk of this week working on the Reinforcement Activity that is after chapter 13.  It is an activity that reviews the past five chapters.  Once we have completed that activity we will begin chapter 14.  It is on accounting for uncollectible accounts receivable.  We will probably spend one or two days on it this week.  Finishing the first section for sure and the application with it.

Week of January 24, 2022

We will continue to work on chapter 13.  Working on the mastery problems for the chapter.  Then working on the b test and finally the chapter 13 A test after that.

Week of January 17, 2022

We will be working on Chapter 13 this week.  It mainly involves paying salary expenses and payroll taxes.  It discusses how to find some of the amounts that an employer has to pay.
We should complete all four sections work togethers and at least 13-1 and 13-4 on your own.  Students should complete application 13-1, 13-2, 13-3 static (possibly random) and try to finish 13-4 there will be a test over chapter 13 the following week.  Probably mid-week.


Week of January 10. 2022

We will continue working on Chapter 12.  We will finish application problem 12-4 and then begin working on the mastery problem, static version.  Once that is complete we will work on the sample test.  We may do part of the random mastery problem.  Then we will take the A test.  That will probably be on Thursday.  We will do other work on payroll on Friday or use it as a catch up day.

Week of January 3, 2022

We will have a short review on Tuesday and then start our new chapter.  It will be on Payroll.  We will with finding an employee's earnings, then calculating their deductions and then their net pay.  After that we will work on a payroll register, which show all the information about each employee in terms of what they earned and had deducted for a pay period.  We should complete the first three, maybe four, sections of this chapter this week.  Completing the work together and the applications.  We will do some of the on your owns.  We may add some information on finding deductions or real life deductions as we go through the chapter.

Week of December 13, 2021

Watch shark tank on Monday and answer questions on worksheet.  Tuesday start reviewing problem section for the final.  Complete any old work.  Wednesday work on more reviewing and working on account balances and classifications.  Thursday we will finish any reviewing using sample problems to review.  Friday final for first hour.

Week of December 6, 2021

We will finish chapter 10 and take our assessment on it on Tuesday.  We will do the practice test Monday, finish any other problems, and review t-account balances.  Then we will take a t-account quiz Wednesday and start problem 11.m.2 static version.  This problem combines the last three chapters.  We will begin it together on Wednesday and the students will have the rest of the week to work on it.



Week of November 29. 2021

We will work on chapter 10 this week.  We will open up accounts in the accounts receivable ledger, then work on a sales journal and post from it, and finally we will work on a cash receipts journal and posting from it.  This week we will get all of the parts done for this chapter and do all of the applications with each part as well as the work togethers.  Once those are done we will work on the mastery problem for the chapter.

We will finish up chapter 11.  Review for the test, finish any applications we need to complete and take the A test on Tuesday.

Week of November 15, 2021

We will work finish chapter 9 first.  Taking our practice test on Monday and reviewing the chapter.  Then take the Chapter 9 A assessment on Tuesday.  We will then start a new chapter on Wednesday.  And work on it the rest of the week.  We should do all three section of the chapter this week.  Completing the work together and then the applications for the chapter. 

Week of November 8, 2021

We will work on chapter 9 this week.  It starts with the accounts payable ledger, then goes to a purchases journal, and finally a cash payments journal.  We will do the work together with each section and some of the on your own sections before we do the applications for the sections.  Students should complete at least the five sections for this chapter and the applications for them.  Once that is done we should work on the mastery problem.

Week of November 1, 2021

We will finish chapter 8.  Complete the mastery problem and then the challenge problem.  After that we will review the chapter, and take the practice test.  Once that is complete we will take test A.  Then we will spend the rest of the week on the reinforcement activity that follows chapter 8.

Week of October 25, 2021

We will continue on chapter 7 this week and take an assessment over it.  We will start with balance sheets and do the work together, on your own, and application for 7-2 section.  Then we will finish the mastery problems for the chapter.  Once that is done we will do a review problem before we study for our Assessment.  We will take the practice assessment and then the actual one.  Those will be done by Thursday.  Then we will spend the rest of the week on chapter 8.

Week of October 18, 2021

We will finish Chapter 6 this week and begin chapter 7.  Students will complete a questionnaire about chapter 6 on Monday.  Then we will proceed to finish both of the mastery problems.  Once that is complete we will do a paper version, or two, of worksheets.  Then we will review the B test and any other review we need to do.  Finally, we will do the A test.  That will probably be on Thursday.  On Friday we will begin chapter 7 and work on completing a basic income statement, completing at least section 1 of chapter 7.  Finishing the work together, on your own, and application for that section.

Week of October 11, 2021

We will work on the reinforcement activity that follows chapter 5.  It will take students through things that they have learned over the past few chapters.  We will work on this for at least the next two-three days.  Once we complete it we will start chapter 6.  If possible we will do at least the first section of the chapter this week, completing the work together and the application.

Week of October 4, 2021

We will continue chapter 5 and our banking unit.  Students will complete both of the mastery problems.  We may do a few more examples of endorsements and deposits if needed.  Then we will review for our Assessment by doing the B test.  There will be a paper part of this assessment as well.  We will continue to watch a few video's on banking, money, and the federal reserve.  Students will complete the Chapter 5 Assessment (A test)

Week of September 27, 2021

We will review for our assessment and finish any chapter 4 work on Monday and take the A test on Tuesday.  Then we will spend the rest of the week on Chapter 5 and on some banking information.  We will complete the first two sections of the chapter and do the work togethers and applications for sure.  We will probably do the third section as well.  I will spend some time on some general banking information. 

Week of September 20, 2021

We will work on Chapter 4 this week.  Students will complete section 2 thru 4 this week.  We will do the work togethers and some of the on your own.  Students should complete all the applications for the sections and the mastery problem static version.  We will do a worksheet on finding new balances of accounts as well.  If we get time we will work on the source document problem for the chapter.  Possibly another t-account quiz.  The assessment over this should be the week of the 27th.

Week of September 13, 2021

We will continue with work on chapter 3.  Students should finish the mastery problem, static version, and then continue on chapter 3.  We will do part of the other mastery problem, then go to the source document problem.  Students may work on part of 3.4.2 as well.  Then we will work on the practice test and then take the Assessment for the chapter.  We should have all this done by Thursday.  We will then begin the chapter 4 and work on the first section of it.

Week of September 6, 2021

We will work on Chapter 3.  It is on Journalizing.  Students will work on a work together problem which runs through the chapter and an application that also runs throughout the chapter.  We will do a vocabulary worksheet with another question on it.  Students will learn how to use the journal and then total it.  Being able to prove debits and credits.  We should get through the sections of the chapter and hopefully work on the mastery problem on Friday.

Week of August 30, 2021

We will quickly review the diagram we drew Friday and begin new transactions.  We will complete 2-2 and 2-3 applications and the mastery problem for chapter 2.  Students will work on a practice t-account quiz and complete a separate problem on transactions from this chapter.  We will then review the chapter and take an assessment.  We will also have a t-account quiz on Friday.  If the computer software arrives this week we will try and login to it as well.

Week of August 23, 2021

We will start the week with a short review and then jump into the mastery problem for the chapter.  Once that is complete we will work on another review problem for transactions, a review problem for net worth, and then review for the assessment.  We should get our computer software this week and will need to login to it and get it working.  We may do part of chapter 1 on it.  But we will have an assessment this week.  Probably on Thursday.

Week of August 16, 2021

Introduction to the class and the first week paperwork with grading and class procedures.
Then we will work on chapter 1.  We will do a net worth statement (application 1-1 on page 25).  Next we will work on application 1-2 and a handout like 1-2 that is filling in the blank in the accounting equation.  Once that is done we will do another net worth statement and vocabulary for chapter 1.  Then we will begin to work on transactions that affect the accounting equation and how it is affected by the transactions.  We will work on application 1-3 and 1-4 and possible other examples.  If we get through all of that we will start the mastery problem.











Week of May 17, 2021

We will finish Chapter 17 this week and take our test over it.  Be sure to have the mastery problem, static version done.  You should also turn in the review problems we did at the end of chapter 17.  Depending upon the time left in the week we may play an accounting game.

Week of May 10, 2021

We will work on chapter 17 this week.  Beginning with the vertical and horizontal analysis problems.  We will do the work together and applications for the first three sections.  Then we will work on section four, which is ratio's.  Students will be given note cards and other notes to help them with the ratio's.  We will finish the work together and application for section 4 before working on the mastery problem static version.  Once that is complete, if we have time we will work on the practice test for this chapter.  The test of it will be next week.

Week of May 3, 2021

We will finish up chapter 16.  Review the forms that will be on the assessment.  Students will be given an example of the test to work on and complete. Finish the mastery problem and take assessment A.  Then we will either start the next chapter or do a class activity.

Week of April 26, 2021

We will continue to work on chapter 16 this week.  We will finish the last two sections of the chapter and do the work together and applications for each of them.  Students will also complete the mastery problem (static version) this week.  We will also work with note cards to help remember the statements that we have been working on for the week.  Students might work on the other mastery problem (random) at the end of the week.  The Assessment for this chapter will be the following week.

Week of April 19, 2021

Some classes will finish chapter 15 first while others will start chapter 16.  All classes will work on 16 most of the week.  It deals with financial statements.  We will start with an income statement and then go to a statement of stockholders equity and finish with a balance sheet.  For this week all sections should at least complete the first two forms.  Completing 16-1 work together and application then 16-2 work together and application.  We will spend some time working on flash cards for the statements.  We may get to start the 3rd section if time permits.

Week of April 12, 2021

We will try to finish chapter 15 this week.  We will begin with finishing the 15-4 application problem and then working on the static mastery problem for the chapter.  Once those are done we will work on the sample test, test b, and also work on sample adjustments and continued practice on using the tax chart and tax problems.  If we are ready we will take the test, if not we will take the A test next week.

Week of April 5, 2021

We will work on chapter 15 this week.  It has four sections.  We will get through all of the section this week and all of the applications for those sections.  Once done with those we will work on the mastery problem for the chapter.  The chapter centers on more adjustment and the entries.  We will spend more time and some extra work on the section that involves taxes.  Depending on your section we may get to the sample test.

Week of March 22, 2021

We will finish chapter 14 and take our test over it.  First we will finish the mastery problem, static version, then we will work on the b test.  Students will also be given other sample problems to work on that will be on paper.  An extra problem doing transactions, finding due dates and interest will be included.  We will take the A test on Thursday or Friday depending upon your groups.

Week of March 15, 2021

We will finish chapter 13 with the A test to start the week.  Then we will go to chapter 14 for the rest of the week.  We should get all three sections done completing the work together and application for each section.  Then we will work on the Mastery problem for chapter 14.

Week of March 8, 2021

We will continue working on Chapter 13 and possibly take our assessment on it at the end of the week.  We will finish sections 13-2, 13-3, and 13-4.  Completing the work together and the applications for each section.  Then we will work on the mastery problem and finally get to the practice assessment.  If we complete everything we will have our A test this week if not it will be the first day next week.

Week of March 1, 2021

We will finish chapter 12 and take our assessment.  Then we will begin chapter 13 on all of the payroll tax entries that are needed.  We should be able to get the first section done and possibly the second.  Students will be given an assignment for Friday which will include either finishing a section of chapter 13 or a t account exercise.  We should do the work together and application for each section we complete and possibly the on your own for it.

Week of February 22, 2021

We will still be on chapter 12 after last weeks snow days.  We will start by finishing section 12-4.  Doing the work together and application.  Once that is complete we will do the mastery problem.  We may continue working on problems from that chapter or we may then work on the sample assessment.  The actual assessment will not be until the following week.

Week of February 15, 2021

We will continue to work on Chapter 12 this week.  After a short review, we will work on section 3.  This section is on a payroll register.  We will find net pay.  Completing the work together and on your own before working on the application problem 12-3.  Once this is complete we will work on the last section of the chapter.  That will include employee earnings records, payroll checks, and checks to employees.  We will complete the work together and then the application problem 12-4.  If we get these sections done, we will continue to the mastery problem for the rest of the week.  We will have an assessment the week after.

Week of February 8, 2021

We will quickly discuss super bowl advertising and money spent and some on the ads before we start the new chapter.  Chapter 12.  We will discuss getting paid, regular wages, overtime wages, salary, and time cards.  Then we will work on the work together and on your own for that section and finally the application.  Then to section two and deductions.  We will show how they are determined and how compute them.  We will complete the work together and on your own and then the application.  If we get the chance we will work on section 3, which will be the payroll register.  That will determine net pay.  

Week of February 1, 2021

We will work some on debit and credit balances and classifications with a quiz during the week.  Most of the week will be spent working on a mastery problem at the end of chapter 11.  We will either work on the static or random one for 11 mastery 2.  It combines many of the last few chapters into one large problem.  We may spend time on the challenge problem if we get the opportunity.

Week of January 25, 2021

We will start by finishing chapter 11.  We will complete the mastery problems 11 mastery 1 doing both the random and static versions eventually.  Then we will go over the practice test.  We will also spend time reviewing the new accounts and the balances of all accounts.
Once we have done that we will take the Assessment (11 Test A) for the chapter.  Then if we have time we will work on either the challenge problem or the longer mastery problem (11 mastery 2 static).  This master covers the past three chapters and serves as a good review of what we have learned.  We could spend a few days on it.

Week of January 18, 2021

We will finish any of Chapter 10 first.  Taking the test and completing any extra credit.  Then we will work on Chapter 11 for the rest of the week.  It is on the general journal.  There are three sections to this chapter.  We will work on the work together for each section after a brief introduction and then do the applications for each one.  We may work on the on your own in free time or later.  If we get at the section done and the applications complete for each section we will work on the mastery problem for the chapter.  There could be more work on balance side of accounts.

Week of January 11, 2021

We will work on Chapter 10 this week.  Starting with the mastery problem static version.  Then we will work on the 10-Source document problem and probably most of the mastery problem that is randomized.  Once that is done we will work on the same test.  If you are A day student we will test on Friday.  If you are a B day student your test will probably be on Monday.

Week of January 4, 2021

We will begin with a short review of some of what we have learned from 1st semester.  Then we will start working on chapter 10.  This week we will cover most of chapter 10.  Section 1 on the sales journal, section 2 on posting from a sales journal, section 3 recording cash and credit card sales in a cash receipts journal and section 4 posting from a cash receipts journal.  This week students will work on the work together from any section covered and the on your own if we get the chance.  Students should complete the application problems; 10-1 static, 10-1 randomized, 10-2, 10-3, and 10-4.  These should be completed this week.  If we get time we will work on the mastery problem.

Week of December 14, 2020

We will finish chapter 9 this week and take our assessment on it.  Students should complete Application 9-5 and the mastery problem.  We will also go through the sample test.
 If we get the chance we will work on the random mastery problem or the 9-Source document problem.  For Friday you can use it to catch up on any old problems that you have not done or work on the 9-Challenge for extra credit.

Week of December 7, 2020

We will finish chapter 8 up the first meeting of the week.  Take the chapter 8 A test and then begin chapter 9.  We will work on the first section that day, trying to complete the work together, on your own, and applications.  Then the rest of the week we will do as much of chapter 9 as we can.  There are a total of five sections, some of them pretty small.  I will go over the section quickly and then we will proceed to work on problems like we normally do.  I hope to get through the first four sections this week.  Or at least get to the fourth one.  We will do the applications for each section.  The first three sections are pretty short.  We will also be using two new journals this chapter, a purchases journal and a cash payments journal.

Week of November 30, 2020

We will work this week on Chapter 8.  It involves closing entries and a post closing trial balance.  This we will should get through all problems in the chapter.  Closing entries is section 8-1, we will do the work together, on your own, and 8-1 application.  Then we will work on 8-2 and the post closing trial balance.  Once that is complete we will do the mastery problems for the chapter for the chapter.  If we get the chance we will work on the B test for this chapter.

Week of November 23, 2020

All classes will have a google classroom assignment on Monday but only first hour will meet on Tuesday.  We will take our chapter 7 A test and then use the rest of the hour to catch up on any old work.  Enjoy the break.

Week of November 16, 2020

We will spend this week on Chapter 7.  It is on income statements and balance sheet.  We will work on each section completing the work together, on your own, and application for each section.  Then we will work on the mastery problems.  We should complete the chapter this week and try the B test if we get the chance.  The A test will be next week.

Week of November 9, 2020

We will continue to work on Chapter 6 for most of the week.  Once we have completed all the four sections of the chapter we will work on the mastery problems.  Once both are done we will do the challenge problem, review adjustments and finishing a worksheet, and then complete the sample test.  Some classes may try and do the A test if we get there.

Week of November 2, 2020

We will finish chapter 5 and take the A test.  Then we will begin chapter 6.  This chapter is on worksheets.  We will start with the heading and the trial balance and then go to the adjustments.  This will be the first two sections of the chapter.  We will then try and extend the worksheet to finish it and determine if there is any income or loss.  Students should complete the work together, on your own, and application for 6-1, 6-2, and 6-3. 

Week of October 26, 2020

We will work on Chapter 5 this week.  We will finish sections 5-3 and 5-4 quickly and do the work together, on your own, and application for each section.  We will then complete the mastery problem and work on the challenge problem before finishing up anything else from the chapter.  We will try and get the B test done so we can do the A test next week.

Week of October 19, 2020

We will take our assessment over chapter 4.  Then we will continue to chapter 5.  Students will complete the first few sections of the chapter this week and do at least the first two applications for chapter 5.  I will add in other banking features this week and we will probably take another t-account quiz late in the week.  

Week of October 12, 2020

We will continue working on Chapter 4.  Students should be through the first two sections.  So we will complete section 3 and 4.  The class will do the work together for each section and the application for each section.  We might do the on your own part.  Then we will work on the mastery problem and the b test for the chapter.  We should have chapter 4 assessment, A test,  on Tuesday the 20th.  We are also due for another t-account quiz soon.

Week of October 5, 2020

We will finish chapter 3 and take our assessment.  Then we will continue working on chapter 4.  Students should complete 4-1 work together and 4-1 application.  We will then work on posting, which is in section 2 of the chapter.  Trying to complete the work together and then work on the application for Thursday.

Week of September 28, 2020

We will continue working on chapter 3.  Students will complete the mastery problem, static version, work on the source document problem, complete either 3.4.1 or 3.4.2, and then we will work on the sample test for chapter 3.  Students should have completed 3.1-3.3 applications already.  If we have time we may work on the randomized mastery.  We will complete the source document problem as well.  The challenge problem will be an extra credit opportunity for students to work on.  We should have our assessment on chapter 3 early the next week.

Week of September 21, 2020

We will finish any work with chapter 2 Assessment and take a t-account quiz.  Then we will spend the rest of the time this week on chapter 3.  It is on journals.  We will discuss what it is and then start entering all the types of transactions that we have done so far into a journal.  Students should complete 3-1 work together, on your own, and application.  Then they should continue to section 2 and we will complete the work together, on your own and application for that section.  Once that is complete we will continue to section 3 for more transactions. Doing the work together, on your own, and application for that section as well.  If all of that is complete we will discuss how to finish a journal and begin a new page.  That would be the fourth section of the chapter.

Week of September 14, 2020

This week we will be working on chapter 2 on our accounting software package.  We will complete section 2-3 and do the application problems that accompanies that section.  Then we will work on the mastery problem.  Doing both of them.  Finally we will work on the challenge problem and complete anything else in the chapter.  I would like to work on the practice test, Test B for chapter 2, and then do the A test the first day the following week.  We will spend time on t-accounts as well and do a practice quiz for them.

Week of September 7, 2020

We will be working on Chapter 2 this week and hopefully will be on the accounting software package.  We will be working on the first three sections.  Discussing the material, completing some practice problems (work togethers and maybe on your own) and then working on applications for each section.  Depending on which class you are in we may get completely done with all of the sections and applications thru 2-3.  I will show students some of the other options that the software has for them as well.

Week of August 31, 2020

We will finish chapter 1 and take an assessment over it.  Students will complete the applications for the chapter and a crossword puzzle.  We will do a review problem as well.  Then we will begin chapter 2.  Drawing a chart on page 33 and then begin discussing debits, credits, and t-accounts.  We will try and get onto the new software package and if we can we will work on the first few sections of chapter 2.

Week of August 24, 2020

We will go through all the beginning of the year information and then start chapter 1.  Students will do a sample net worth statement, 1-2 work together, then we will discuss the accounting equation and complete a fill in the blank exercise.  Once those are complete we will do application 1-1 and 1-2.  Once those are finished we will spend time completing a vocabulary matching problem.  The rest of the chapter is spent discussing transactions and how they affect the accounting equation.
Students will complete application 1-3, 1-4 and 1-5.  Then we will complete a review problem and sample assessment problems.  




Week of March 16, 2020

We will finish chapter 15 and have an assessment.  We will first review with the sample assessment, 15 test b.  Then take our assessment.  Students will have a t-account quiz on Wednesday.  We will do an accounting monopoly activity for two days next week and turn in a worksheet with the results of the activity.

Week of March 9, 2020

We will continue working on Chapter 15 this week.  We will also have a t-account quiz on the front half of the practice sheet.  It will be on Tuesday or Wednesday.  Students will first complete 15-4 application and then we will work on the Mastery problem (static) for the chapter.  Students will be given a worksheet that involves finding the income tax and notes receivable interest.  If everything gets done, we will do the review test to get ready for our assessment.  The assessment will probably be next week.

Week of March 2, 2020

We will take our assessment on Monday for chapter 14.  We will begin chapter 15 on Monday.  Then we will work on adjustments and doing a trial balance after the adjustments. Students will learn more adjustments including the depreciation and income tax adjustments.  We will complete the first three sections of the chapter and do all problems that are associated with them.  That will include the work together and on your own as well as the applications.  We will also do practice problems that involve finding the net income before taxes and after taxes.

Week of February 24, 2020

We will finish chapter 14 this week.  Students will complete the mastery problem and the sample test we will do together.  We will work on a sample problem to find interest and maturity date.  The assessment will be Thursday.  
We will start chapter 15 on Friday or work on T-accounts.

Week of February 17,2020

We will work on chapter 14 this week.  Starting with uncollectible accounts and finishing with promissory notes.  Students should complete 14-1, 14-2 and 14-3 work together, on your own, and applications. We will take a t-account quiz later in the week.  If we get there we will work on the mastery problems on Friday.

Week of February 10, 2020

We will finish the reinforcement activity 2 Part A.  Students to start the week should be at least on step 5 of the activity. It will take at least two days.  We will also have a quiz over T-accounts and review part of a day for the quiz.  

Week of February 3, 2020

We will finish up chapter 13 on Monday and have an assessment on Tuesday.  Then we will spend most of the rest of the week working on a Reinforcement activity.  It will take multiple days to complete.  We will spend a little time discussion the super bowl ads, money spent and success of the ads.

Week of January 27, 2020

We will work on chapter 13 this week.  Monday we will work on section 13-2.  Doing all the work together, on you own, and application.  It will be on payroll expenses.  Tuesday will be the same except section 3 on quarterly tax report.  Wednesday, SIP day, we work work on 13-4 section on paying the payroll deductions.  Thursday we will work on the mastery problem and continue that on Friday with reviewing the chapter.  We will either have our assessment on Monday or Tuesday of the next week.

Week of January 20, 2020

We will first finish our assessment on Chapter 12.  Students will have a word search and a chance to make up old work.  We will then work on Chapter 13 for the rest of the week.  Students should get through the first three sections of the chapter for sure.  We will complete the work together and the on your own.  Then we will do the application.  We will learn how to do the salary expense entry for the payroll register, then the payroll taxes entry for employer payroll taxes, and then do the employee quarterly tax return.  

Week of January 13, 2020

We are working on Chapter 12 this week.  Students will complete 12-4 work together and application on employee payroll checks and then start working on the static master problem.  Once that is complete we will do part of the Randomized mastery, the source document problem, and then review with the 12 B test for an assessment that will be on Friday.

Week of January 6, 2020

We will do a short review on Tuesday and then begin chapter 12.  Chapter 12 is on payroll.  We will start with time cards, wages, hours and overtime. Then we will go to deductions and then to a payroll register.  After that is complete we will work on a paycheck and a pay stub.  Students will work on the work together and on your own first then will work on the applications.  We should get through the first three sections of the chapter this week and do all the applications that accompanies those sections.

Semester exam week.  We will review for the final and complete any other needed work.

Week of December 9, 2019

We will finish chapter 10 this week.  Review the B test on Monday and finish any other chapter work.  Take the chapter 10 Assessment on Tuesday and then spend the rest of the week on Chapter 11.  We will do all the sections of chapter 11.  Students will just do the work togethers and then go to the applications.  We will get as many applications done from the chapter as we can.  We will get at least to the mastery problem on Friday.

Week of December 2, 2019

We will work on chapter 10 this week.  It is on the sales journal and the cash receipts journal.  We will begin with the sales journal.  Do work together and on your own for the first two sections.  Then 10-1 application (static first) and then application 10-2.  We will do 10-1 randomized if we get the time.  Next we will work on the cash receipts journal which is section 10-3 and 10-4.  We will do the work together and on your own for 10-3 but only the work together for 10-4.  Then we will work on the application for those sections.  Once all this is done we will work on the mastery problems.  We will have an assessment over this chapter next week.

Week of November 25, 2019

We will finish chapter 9 this week and have our Assessment on Tuesday.  Monday we will work on the B test and complete any other problems from the chapter that are not done.


Week of November 18, 2019

We will be working on Chapter 9 this week.  Students will complete at least the first four sections of the chapter.  They will do the work together and on your own before working on the applications.  We will discuss subsidiary ledgers, purchases journal and the cash payments journal.  We will also post from each journal.  We should get through all five sections of the chapter.  Students will be graded on applications 9-1 thru 9-5.  If we get the chance we will work on the mastery problem on Friday.

Week of November 11, 2019

We will work on Chapter 8 for most of the week.  Monday we will review closing entries and do the on your own problem and the randomized mastery.  Then we will work on the accounting cycle and post-closing trial balance on tuesday.  Wednesday we will do the mastery problem and finish everything else.  An assessment will be on Thursday or Friday.  If thursday we will begin a reinforcement activity on Friday.


Week of November 4, 2019

We will work on chapter 7 this week and have an assessment on Thursday.  Students will complete both 7-2 applications, both 7-Mastery applications, and the challenge problem.  We will do two worksheets that deal with income statements and balance sheets and then complete the b test as practice.  Once this is done we will begin chapter 8.  Just completing the first section that will include the work together, on your own, and the application.


Week of October 28, 2019

We will continue working on Chapter 6.  We will start with 6-mastery randomized version of a worksheet.  Then we will work on the challenge problem and do at least one worksheet that is on paper.  Once that is complete we will look at the b test for review and take the A test for the Assessment.  After completing the assessment we will begin chapter 7.  It is on income statements and balance sheets.  We will complete section 7-1 on the income statement and the applications that go with it.  If we get a chance we will start working on the next section which is on balance sheets.

Week of October 21, 2019

We will work the first part of the week on a reinforcement activity.  There are 10 steps to it, if we can get them all finished by Wednesday we will, if not I will stop students after step 8 or 9.  Once we are done with this activity we will start chapter 6, which is on worksheet.  We will begin with adjustments and then work on how to extend and finish a worksheet.  Students will complete the first three sections of chapter 6.  We will do the work together and on your owns together and then work on the applications.  We will try and get through application 6-3 this week.  

Week of October 14, 2019

We will finish chapter 5 this week and have an assessment on it.  Students will complete the mastery problem, we will complete the challenge problem, and work on a sample test.  Once those are done we will have our assessment.  If we can we will have a part day set up as a money day discussion.  Maybe some different types of currency if we can.
But we will review writing checks, parts of a check, endorsements, reconciliations and more.

Week of October 7, 2019

We will be working on chapter 5 this week.  Students will work on 5-2 section and 5-3 section.  We will do the work together and the applications.  If we can we may do the on your own.  We will watch video on the federal reserve and on money as part of this chapter.  If you did not finish the deposit slip problem and the endorsement problem you should finish them as well.  We may get to the last section of the chapter and do 5-4 work together and application if we get the chance.  Probably will work on them the following week.

Week of September 30,2019

We will be finishing chapter 4 this week and having an assessment on it.  Students will complete the mastery problem and the 4-S problem we worked on last week.  We will then review for our assessment and do a sample assessment problem. Once we have completed the assessment we will begin chapter 5.  Students will be introduced to banking.  We will review some basics and then compared person banking to that of a business and work on the first sections of the chapter.  Students will complete the work together and on your own for the first two sections and the applications that will accompany them.

Week of September 23,2019

We will be working on Chapter 4 this week and beginning to use of computer software package for accounting I.  Students will be getting familiar with the software as they work on the topics in chapter 4.  We will work a chart of accounts and then post information from a journal to the accounts in the general ledger.  Students will work on the work together and on your own with me and then complete the applications for a grade.  Students should complete applications 4-1, 4-2, 4-3, and 4-4 this week.  We will do some work outside of the computer this week as well that will have students change account balances.  An assessment will be the following week.

Week of September 16,2019

We will finish chapter 3 this week and begin chapter 4 by the end of the week.  Students will complete a mastery problem for chapter 3 and then complete a sample assessment problem.  We will review part of a day and take our assessment on Chapter 3 on Wednesday.  There will be another t-account quiz on Friday.  We hope to get everyone onto the computer software this week as well.  The next chapter will have a section on checking, so we will introduce the chapter and discuss checking accounts for part of a day as well.

Week of September 9, 2019

We will be working on Chapter 3 this week.  Students will continue to learn how to put transactions into a journal.  Once that is done we will determine how to proof a journal, prove cash, and how to continue on a second page of a journal.  Students will complete work togethers thru 3-4, applications 3-3, 3-4.1, 3-4.2, and the mastery problem.  Once that those are complete, we will work on a recycle or a supplementary problem.  We will have an assessment over chapter 3 next week and another t-account quiz either Friday or Tuesday.

Week of September 2, 2019

We will first review account classifications and balances doing a sticky note activity.  Then we will finish the recycle problem.  Once those are complete we will do one more problem and begin to review for our chapter 2 Assessment that will be on Thursday.  We will have a t-account quiz on Wednesday for a small part of the day.  We will begin chapter 3 on Friday and complete the first section of the chapter.

Week of August 26, 2019

We will be working on Chapter 2 this week.  The terms debit and credit will be introduced along with T-account.  Students will begin to learn the balance side of accounts and how different classifications of accounts are increased and decreased.  We will work on the application problems in the chapter, copy the chart on page 33 along with four questions on 36, and start showing how an account changes with a transactions.  Students will learn how a transaction affects an account.  We will do some t-account exercises that will be similar to some quizzes we will have in the future.

Week of August 19, 2019

This week we will complete chapter 1 and have an assessment.  We will complete applications 1-4, 1-5 (mastery) and the recycle problem for the chapter.  We will also complete the vocabulary and review a net worth statement.  Students will also work on a review for the chapter before the assessment.

Week of August 12, 2019

We will be in class three days this week.  We will begin with general introductions and information about the class and student expectations.  Once that is complete we will begin the first chapter.  We will discuss net worth statements and the accounting equation.  Students will complete applications 1-1, 1-2 and a worksheet on the accounting equation.
Then we will work on a vocabulary problem for the chapter and begin work on how a transactions affects the accounting equation.  If we have time we will complete a worksheet on how transactions affect the accounting equation.





Week of May 20th

We will be working on a Reinforcement Activity for the first part of the week.  Then by Thursday we will start to review for the final.  We will work on a practice problem on the computer very similar to the final problem and we will then review for the paper part of the final.  The finals in here will be the week of the 27th.

Week of May 13th

We will be working on chapter 17 for most of the week.  Students will finish the mastery problem, complete section 17-4 (work together, on your own and application), complete the study guide, work on a sample test, a review problem, and then take Chapter 17 Test A.  Once we complete all of this we will begin the reinforcement problem.  We will spend at least two days on it, beginning this week and finishing next.

Week of May 6th

We will be working on Chapter 17 this week.  We will do the first four parts of the chapter.  Students will do the Work together and Applications on each of the four parts and the on your own problem on the sections that I ask them to do. If we have any extra time they should work on the study guide for the chapter.  We may begin the mastery problem on friday if we have enough time.  This chapter mainly deals with comparing information from different time periods financial statements and then using percentages and ratios in the comparison.

Week of April 29

We will be working on Chapter 16 this week and will have an assessment.  Students will finish the mastery problem and study guide 16.  Then we will do some review work for the many statements we have done this chapter.  Students will also work on the sample test, 16B.  Then we will have an assessment.  16-C will be given as an x-credit opportunity.

Week of April 22

We will be working on Chapter 16 this week.  Students should be through the first two sections of the chapter and done with the applications.  We will begin with the balance sheet in section 3 and then go to closing entries and finally post-closing trial balance.  This week students should complete work togethers for 16-3 thru 16-5, on your own for 16-3 and 16-5, and applications for 16-3 thru 16-5.  Once those are done we will begin the mastery problem for the chapter.

Week of April 15

We will be working on Chapter 16 this week.  Students will be making income statements, and statement of stockholders equity. This week we should complete at least the two sections of the chapter.  We will do the work together and on your own for each of them and the applications.  We will do an accounting cycle drawing for part of an hour later in the week and a note card activity.  If you get a chance do the vocabulary of the study guide.

Week of April 8

We will continue to work on chapter 15 this week.  Students will work on the mastery problem, finish the study guide, complete a review worksheet, and then take the sample assessment before taking the chapter assessment.  We should be ready for the chapter 15 Assessment Test A by Friday.

Week of April 1

We will be working on Chapter 15 this week.  This chapter starts with an unadjusted trial balance and then goes on to make needed adjustments, concluding with an income tax adjustment.  Students this week will complete sections 15-1,15-2, 15-3 and 15-4.  We will do the work together, on your own, and applications for each of the first three sections.  On 15-4 we will see where we are at to decided if we do all three parts.  If we get done with these sections we will start the study guide and work on the mastery problem for the chapter.

Week of March 18

We will finish working on the Reinforcement activity this week.  It is due before break and we will spend class time Monday and some on Tuesday.  Students will work on T-account examples and take a quiz later in the week on Thursday or Friday.  We will also play accounting monopoly for two days and turn in answers on how well or poorly you ended up in the game.

Week of March 11

We will finish chapter 14, and go over the sample assessment.  Next taking the Chapter 14 Test A.  Once that is complete we will spend the rest of the week on Reinforcement Activity 2 Part a.  This activity is a large activity that reviews that last 4-5 chapters.  We will spend the rest of this week on it.  Possibly one day next week.

Week of March 4

We will still be working on Chapter 14 most of this week.  Students will complete the mastery problem, finish the study guide, do a notecard activity, and complete transactions in a paper journal.  They will also watch shark tank while I am at a conference and complete work on it.  We will also work on the sample assessment on Friday along with additional test questions I will add.

Week of February 25

We will be working on Chapter 14 this week.  It will center on collection and determining uncollectible accounts.
We will complete all three sections of the chapter and each work together and on your own for each sections.  Students should complete three applications, the mastery problem, and maybe the study guide.

Week of February 18

We will finish chapter 13 this week and have an assessment on it.  We will work on the mastery problem together for the first step, then students will complete the second step.  Students will complete the study guide, I will help with some parts, then we will finish the chapter and review the sample assessment.  The assessment will be either Thursday or Friday.  If we have Friday open we will review t-accounts, and new accounts this semester, and begin Chapter 14.

Week of February 11

We will have a pretest for the next chapter and then begin chapter 13.  It is on payroll, but on the transactions that are involved.  Student will complete the first three sections of the chapter and do the work together, on your own, and applications that will accompany them.  We should start study guide 13 too.  We will discuss what transactions are involved in payroll and what the employer has to do in addition to take deductions out for their employees.  If time we will work on t-accounts that will include some of the new accounts from this semester.

Week of February 4

We will be working on Chapter 12 for most of this week.  Monday we will introduce the 12-S problem.  Students should finish Mastery, study guide 12, and work on the 12-S problem for 2 days.  Then we will review and do the sample test.  Assessment should be on Thursday.  We will then introduce chapter 13 on Friday and finish anything from 12.  We will work on section 13-1, completing the work together and the application.

Week of January 28

We will be working on Chapter 12 this week.  It is on payroll.  We will finish any applications from last week and then begin the section on payroll checks.  Students will complete a sample payroll check and include all the deduction and earnings information on the check stub that is provided.  Students will complete 12-4 work together and 12-4 application.  Then we will work on the mastery problem for the chapter and the study guide.  Students will also work on the source document problem 12-S.  We will have an assessment next week.

Week of January 21

We will work on Chapter 12 this week.  It is on payroll.  We will discuss types of pay and then get to finding your total earnings, using regular and overtime.  Then we will work on the deductions from your paycheck and eventually get to finding the net pay for a paycheck.  We will do the first three sections, work togethers, on your own and applications.  Once that is complete we will work on section 4.  Remember you can still do the 11.M.2 from last chapter and any study guide questions that you did not complete.

Week of January 14

We will finish chapter 11 this week, have an assessment and then begin chapter 12.  First we will complete chapter 11, finishing the study guide, working on mastery 11.m.2 and finally working on the sample test.  Then we will take the Assessment.  Once that is complete, we will begin chapter 12 which is on payroll.  Students will complete the first sections and we will discuss different types of pay, time periods of pay, paychecks and finally gross pay vs net pay.  Then we will begin the problems.  We should complete at least 12.1 work together and 12.1 application.

Week of January 7

We will begin with a short review on Tuesday and then start chapter 11.  This week will we work the work togethers, on your own, and applications that go with the three sections of chapter 11.  The sections will discuss purchases returns and allowances, sales returns and allowances, and dividends. Students should complete all of those and the first mastery problem.  When the chance arises you should complete the vocabulary part of the study guide and the crossword section.

Week of December 17

Week of December 10

We will be working on chapter 10.  Sales journal and cash receipts journal.  We will do applications 10-3, 10-4, 10-Mastery, and the study guide.  Students should do the work together and on your own for the 10-3 and 10-4 sections.  An assessment will be on Friday.  I will give them an extra credit problem during the week and show them a sample test that could help for the final.

Week of December 3

We will be first finishing chapter 9.  Completing application 9-5 then working on the mastery problem.  Once it is complete students will work on the source document problem and the study guide.  Finally we will review the practice assessment and take the assessment for chapter 9.  Once this is done we will start chapter 10.  And probably do the first two applications on Friday.

Week of November 26

We will be working on Chapter 9 this week.  It involves accounts payable ledger, purchases journal and cash payments journal.  As well as posting from the journals and doing a schedule of accounts payable.  Students will do applications 9-1, 9-2, 9-3, 9-4, and 9-5 this week.  Work togethers and on your own should be completed as well.  If we get time we will work on the mastery problem.

Week of November 19

We will finish chapter 8 and take our assessment on it Tuesday.  Monday will be a review problem and b test review.  We will begin chapter 9 after break.

Week of November 12

We will first take our assessment over chapter 7 on Monday.  The rest of the week will be spent on Chapter 8.  We will work on adjusting and closing entries and then preparing a post closing trial balance.  Students will complete the work together and on your own that goes with each section.  We will have a grade for past work together and on your own this week.  We should complete the entire chapter this week and the mastery problem.  Students will draw the accounting equation as well.  Study guide 8 will be started.  Assessment will be Monday.

Week of November 5

We will take our Assessment over chapter 6 on Monday.  Then begin chapter 7 on Tuesday.  We will cover income statements and balance sheets this week.  And use the worksheet to help us.  We will do the first three sections and all of the work togethers, on your own, and applications that go with them.  Once those are done we will work on the mastery problem and the study guide.  We should be done with the chapter on Friday.  

Week of October 29

We will work on chapter 6 this week.  Students will complete all sections that involve a work sheet.  They should do work together, on your own, and applications for sections 1 thru 4.  Next we will complete the worksheet at once with the mastery problem and finally work on the study guide.

Week of October 22

We will complete chapter 5 this week and take the assessment on it.  Students will complete section 5-3 and 5-4.  On dishonored checks, EFT, debit cards, and petty cash.  They will do 5-3 and 5-4 work together, on your own, and application.  Then we will do the mastery problem. After those are done, we will complete the study guide and then work on the sample test.  If we get done with chapter 5 we will begin a large review problem.

Week of October 15

We will first finish chapter 4.  Take the pretest, test b on Monday, finish any chapter 4 work and review for the assessment.  Then we will begin chapter 5.  We will write checks, fill out stubs, and reconcile a bank statement.  We will complete sections 5-1, 5-2, and 5-3.  Doing the work togethers, on your own, and applications.  Students will also get more of an introduction to endorsements and parts of a check.

Week of October 8

We will review work on finding new balances of accounts.  Then we will do a problem on how to correct mistakes, problem 4-4.  After those, we will work on the mastery problem for the chapter and finally on the source document problem, 4-s, for this chapter.  If we have any extra time we will work on the study guide for chapter 4.

Week of October 1

This week we will be working on chapter 4.  This week we will be working on making a chart of accounts and then on posting from a journal to the chart of accounts.  Students should complete the first three sections this week.  Completing 4-1, 4-2, and 4-3 work together, on your own, and finally the applications.  We will work on a sample problem that will help you find new balances in an account as more numbers are posted to that account.

Week of September 24

We will finish chapter 3 this week and have an assessment.  Students will complete 3.4.1, 3.4.2, and Mastery Problem applications.  I will start them 3-s problem with them and also assist students on parts of the study guide.  It should be done by Wednesday at the latest. Once these are complete we will work on the sample assessment for chapter 3 and then take the assessment on Thursday or Friday. 

Week of September 17

We will begin chapter 3 this week.  Working on the first three sections for sure.  Students should complete the work togethers, the on your owns, and the applications.  We will also have a t-account quiz on tuesday or wednesday.  The study guide for the chapter will be started as well.

Week of September 10
We will continue our work on chapter 2.  Quick review of t-accounts and how accounts change and what their normal balances should be.  Then we will work on the mastery problem of chapter 2.  Once that is complete we will discuss the challenge problem and do it.  I will provide a supplemental problem that is similar to the mastery problem and then we will work on the sample assessment for the chapter as well as review any needed material.  Our assessment for the chapter should be on Thursday and/or Friday.

Week of September 3
We will take a pre-test that we can use to show growth of the students as the semester progresses.  Then we will start chapter 2 (I will mention missing work from the past chapter).  Students will start with the terms debit and credit and then draw a diagram that will help them with future account balances.  As the week progresses we will work on the first two applications, work togethers and on your own problems.  We will show why certain accounts have certain balances and how it affects the overall accounting equation.  Once we have finished this we will move on to transactions.

Week of August 27
We will work on transactions and how they affect the accounting equation. Once we have complete all the transactions in the chapter and the applications we will work on, an assessment will be given.  That assessment should be Friday.

Week of May 14

We will continue to work on the reinforcement activity and should get through at least step 12.  Stop after step 15.  We will review for our final with a sample test and a worksheet.

Week of May 7

We will complete chapter 17 this week.  Finish the mastery problem, work on the sample test, complete a review problem and take the assessment, 17A, for the chapter.  We will also begin the reinforcement activity.

Week of April 30

We will be working this week on Chapter 17.  Students should complete the remaining sections, 17-2, 17-3, and 17-4.  We will do the work together, on your own and application for each section.  Then we will work on the mastery problem.  The study guide will be started later in the week.  We will have an assessment over this chapter next week.

Week of April 23

We will continue to work on chapter 16 and have our assessment at the end of the week.  Students should complete any applications through the mastery by Monday.  Remember to bring note cards if you can.  We will make flash cards from the three different statements that will be on our assessment.  Students will work on the sample test, Test B.  We will also work on sample problems that are similar to the assessment examples.  The assessment will be on thursday or friday.  Then we will work on the first section of chapter 17 and complete 17-1 application.

Week of April 16

We will be working on chapter 16 this week.  Starting with the balance sheet and then the closing entries and finally a post closing trial balance.  Work together 16-3, 16-4 and 16-5.  Then with the On your own parts and finally the applications for each of the sections.  If we get all of these done we will work on the study guide for the chapter. Then finally the mastery problem.

Week of April 9

We will begin chapter 16 this week.  The bulk of this chapter is on financial statements.  Students will begin with an income statement, then a statement of stockholders equity and finally a balance sheet.  We will work on the first three sections of the chapter this week.  Working on the work togethers, on your own and applications for each section.  T-account review will be completed and work on the study guide for chapter 16.

Week of March 26

We will finish chapter 15 with an assessment on Tuesday.  Finish the sample test on Monday, review problems on monday, and any other chapter work not completed yet.  Wednesday and Thursday we will play monopoly and use a little accounting twist with it.
I will also check work togethers for the past two chapters.

Week of March 19

We will be working on chapter 15 all week.  Students will begin by finishing the 15-4 work together and 15-4 application.  We will learn how to determine the income before taxes, find the tax, and make an adjustment.  There will be a practice worksheet that will help determine a tax and to review finding accrued interest income.  Then we will work on the mastery problem, 15-m, and next complete the study guide for the chapter.  Once those are complete we will work on a problem that I will give them.  If we get all of this done we will continue to the practice test, 15-B.  The assessment will either be on Monday or Tuesday of the following week.

Week of March 12

We will finish up chapter 14 on Monday.  Review activities to help prepare for the assessment on Tuesday.  A notecard activity and a review problem.  Then we will begin chapter 15.  We will spend the rest of the week on chapter 15.  Completing a trial balance, making adjustments and then finishing a work sheet.  Students will complete at least the first three sections and be working on the fourth section.  Students should complete the work together, on your own, and application for 15-1, 15-2, and 15-3.  Once we get to the last section we will determine if we need to do both the work together and on your own before continuing onto the application.  If students get any extra time they should work on the study guide for chapter 15.


Week of March 5

This week we will continue to work on chapter 14.  Students should first complete the on your own part of 14-3 and application of 14-3.  Then they should work on the study guide for the chapter.  We will then work on the mastery problem.  There will be a short quiz on wednesday on t-accounts.  Use the practice guide to help you study.  Then we will watch a video on thursday and complete the chapter on Friday.  Doing at least part of the sample test on Friday.

Week of February 26
This week will finish the reinforcement activity.  We will spend the first two days of the week on it.  Next we will work on chapter 14.  Students should complete the following: 14-1 work together, on your own, and application, 14-2 work together and application, 14-3 work together and application.  We will spend some time on the on your own part of 14-2 and 14-3 but that will be determined as we go through the chapter.  If someone is not done with the reinforcement activity it will still be open for the rest of the week for you to work on outside of class.

Week of February 19

This week we will work on a Reinforcement Activity.  We will work on the transaction part first and then add up the journals.  Once that is complete we will continue with the problem.  There are a total of 10 steps.  We will try and work on all of the steps that we can this week.  Hopefully finishing them all.  Steps 5 and 6 are on posting.  Specific instructions might be given on these depending upon the time it is taking to work on the activity.

Week of February 12

We will finish chapter 13 this week.  First we will work on the mastery problem.  This will take more than one day to complete.  Then we will work on the chapter 13 sample test.  Once those are complete we will have time to be sure the study guide is complete and any other problems from the chapter.  Then we will take the assessment for the chapter.  The chapter 13 assessment A.  If we have any time extra we will spend time on the goggle business section at the beginning of the chapter and/or reviewing for t-account quizzes that will happen in the next few weeks.

Week of February 5

We will work this week on chapter 13.  If you are not done with a problem from chapter 12 I can extend a time for you to finish it.  That should be done early in the week.  The new chapter is on the transactions that involve payroll.  We will complete sections 1,2, and 3 for sure.  I think we will get section 4 done work on the study guide as well.  You should complete the work togethers and applications for the first three sections.  Then we will work on the study guide and the last section on Thursday and Friday.  We will have an assessment next week.  So complete applications 13-1,13-2,13-3, and then 13-4.  And work on the study guide.

Week of January 29

This week we will continue to work on chapter 12.  Payroll and all that accompanies it.  We will finish old applications, 12-3 and 12-4, and then work on the Mastery Problem and the Supplemental problem.  We will do the sample test on Thursday and have our assessment on Friday.
The study guide should also be done this week.

Week of January 22

This week we will work on chapter 12.  We will start with time cards, and determining gross pay.  Once that is done we will determine deductions and net pay.  Then inputting this information on a payroll register.  After the register students will work with an employees earnings record and their computerized check.

On your owns for the first three sections
Applications 12-1, 12-2,12-3,12-4 and the mastery problem.
We will spend some time on the study guide.

Week of January 15

This week we will finish chapter 11.  Complete the study guide, finish any of the two mastery problems not done, review the sample assessment and take the assessment over chapter 11.  Students will also get a grade for the work togethers they have finished.

Week of January 8

We will be working on chapter 11 this week.  First finishing any of 11-1 or 11-2 that was not completed, then continuing to do 11-3 section (all of work together, on your own and the application).  Once that is complete we will do both of the mastery problems for the chapter.  I will give them a t-account review sheet and we will have a quiz on it on Friday.  The study guide for the chapter should be done by Friday as well.

Week of December 11

We will be working on chapter 10 this week.  We will begin by finishing information on a cash receipts journal and the problems with it (10-3 Application, 10-4 work together and application).  Then we will do the mastery problem for the chapter and complete the study guide.  Once that is complete we will work on the source document problem.
Friday we will review for our final.  I will also discuss other things to review for the final including vocabulary words, a sample test, and balance side of accounts.

Week of December 4

We will finish chapter 9 this week and begin chapter 10.
Chapter 9 work will include; finishing the mastery problem, completing the source document problem (9s), completing study guide 9, working on the sample test (9b) and then taking the assessment for the chapter (9a).
Once chapter 9 is complete we will work on chapter 10.  This week we will work on a sales journal (10-1 and 10-2 all parts (work together, on your own and application).  If that is complete we will begin a cash payments journal (10-3 work together, and application)

Week of November 27

We will work this week on chapter 9.  Students will be introduced to accounts payable ledger, purchases journal and cash payments journals.  They will also be shown how to post from those journals.
Students should complete
Work together 9-1 through 9-3 and on your own if you can
Applications 9-1 through 9-4.  You should get to 9-5 and start it.
If possible do part of the study guide as well.

Week of November 20

Finish any work from chapter 8.  Complete two videos and sheets on shark tank.  
Week of November 13

We will be working on chapter 8 this week.  Students will learn how to do closing entries, post them and then do a post closing trial balance.
They should complete the following problems;
8-1 and 8-2 work together
8-1 and 8-2 application
8-Mastery Problem
Study guide 8
8-Challenge problem
We will work on the sample test on Friday for review.  Trying to answer any questions about the closing entries that we have had this week.


Week of November 6

Students are continuing to work on Chapter 7.  We will do a short review monday and then work on the mastery problem.  Students should then complete the study guide and finally work on the challenge problem for the chapter.  Once this is complete we will work on the sample test for the chapter and review anything we need to cover again.  The assessment for the chapter will be on Thursday.  On Friday we will quickly review any problems from the chapter and begin an introduction into chapter 8. We will likely complete the first section of the chapter.

Week of October 30

We are beginning the week working on a ten step reinforcement activity.  I will begin the activity with them then let them work.  We will spend all of two days and a part of a third on the problem.
Once that problem is done we will spend the rest the of the week on the next chapter.  Starting with section 7-1 introducing income statements.  Students should complete the work together, on your own, and the application. Then if time allows we will do the balance sheet section, which is 7-2.  We will try and complete 7-2 work together, on your own and application.

Week of October 23
 
Continue working on Chapter 6 and worksheets.  We will  work on the application 6-4 for adjusting entries and the Mastery problem.  Then we will complete the  study guide and do the sample test, test B, to review.  Once that is done we will take the assessment on chapter 6.
